This is Mundaka – a world-class left, beautiful nature and, of course, the locals. I shot this video on my first visit here, before getting into the water myself. I had already heard a few stories about localism in northern Spain, but I didn’t expect to see a guy dunking someone on my very first drone flight over the wave. So I paddled out with a lot of respect – the local from the video was still in the lineup. After a few minutes I realised the two guys in the video are actually friends and it was more of a joke. Or maybe a bit of training for the real fights, which are not that rare around here. I was filming a tropical surf spot. My neck was blocked, so I couldn't go into the water. The footage is about 40 minutes long, taken around mid-tide. But the spot works at all tides, except at high tide when it gets a bit thick and the current starts to kick in. Paddling out is really easy, and overall, even though I surfed the waves in overhead conditions later on, it was safe. However, a Portuguese guy died there last year. He went in alone when it was ridiculously big. Thanks to the high hill, the spot is well sheltered from the west wind, and the waves are very consistent. Filmed with a DJI mini 4 pro drone.

These are shots from the Bali Big Wejf 8 surfing competition, which anyone can enter. It is mostly attended by the local community. I filmed the adult men's and women's finals. Unfortunately, my battery died during the last three minutes of the heat, and I missed footage of Julian Iturralde's best final ride, in which he performed an amazing 360. This is truly a beginner's paradise. The waves are very consistent and often work, even in stronger onshore winds. What's more, they work in all tides. Complete beginners can ride straight on their surfboards here. They ride in the foam for a while and then the wave builds up again into a green wave, which is the best thing possible when you're a beginner. For more advanced surfers, there are left and right handers. Of course, when the swell is bigger, the wave can become quite a beast. On the beach, you can enjoy a coconut or rent a surfboard. Areguling is a favorite beach of a friend of mine, who bought land above it and plans to build a villa there. I don't blame him at all; a villa with a view of such a wave will certainly have its charm. The video doesn't show any interesting maneuvers, but it gives a good understanding of how the wave works. In this case, it faded out a bit at the end. Areguling also offers surfers a left-hand wave, but it doesn't work as consistently as the right-hand wave. Filmed on DJI mini 4 pro

I took advantage of the last few minutes of sunshine to climb the hill above Gerupuk and take out my drone with one battery. I filmed after a very long break and was careful not to get too close to the water and surfers. Hopefully, I will have time to fly a little more and shoot more videos from this island of Lombok, where I am now spending the winter. Shot on DJI mini 4 Pro November 16, 2025, evening

This wave is quite often weak and shapeless. Ideal for longboards and bigger boards. That's why I'm fascinated by how some surfers can generate speed and look like fast surfing on a wave that's so sour. Shot on DJI mini 4 Pro
